Have longer than 7 Days? A favorite addition to this 7 Day Egypt Tour is to sail on the Nile from days 5 and 6 (below) on a Dahabiya twin-sailed boat, which sails between Luxor and Aswan.
DAY 1: Arrival
Upon arrival you will be met inside the airport by our representative who will help with purchasing Tourist Visas ($25pp) and will escort you to your hotel.
DAY 2: Egypt of the Pharoahs
From your hotel your professional guide will take you on a private tour of Pharaonic Egypt beginning with the Pyramids of Giza. The Great Pyramids are the oldest of the original seven ancient wonders of the world and the only one still in existence. You’ll have the option to enter the Great Pyramid, take a camel ride from the Great Pyramid to the Sphinx, and visit the Boat Museum.
Have lunch near the pyramids followed by an afternoon visit to the Egyptian Museum, home of countless ancient relics including King Tutankhamun’s gold. After an optional visit to the museum’s Mummy Room, you will enjoy a sunset sail in the traditional Felucca boat on the Nile River.
DAY 3: Christian and Islamic Egypt
After breakfast in your hotel you will meet your Christian Egyptian guide. Often overlooked, Egypt has a rich Christian history. Your guide will take you on a tour of the Old Coptic Cairo (Hanging Church). Then head to the Muqatim ‘rubbish dump’ cave churches.
After lunch you will meet your Muslim guide and hear about Islam in Egypt. Drive to the Citadel with your guide, and enjoy the history and the wonderful views of Cairo.
Visit Fat-ha Gate and walk through Moez Street to Azhar mosque. Experience the winding narrow alleyways of Cairo’s old oriental bazaar of Khan Al Khalili. Try your hand at bargaining for some gifts to take home (with your guide’s help!)
You’ll have dinner near the bazaar before driving to the airport for your evening flight to Luxor.
(The above mentioned guides are based on availability at the time of booking).
DAY 4: Luxor's West Bank Tombs, Temples and a Farm
After breakfast in your hotel you will meet your guide who will introduce you to the sites of the Nile’s West Bank including the statues of Memnon, Valley of the Kings, and the unique Hatshepsut Temple which belonged to a famous female Pharaoh.
After a morning of remarkable sites, you will meet Egyptian locals for lunch at a local farm in their family home. Try your hand at making local flat bread which you will eat alongside your hosts in their home.
Say goodbye to your new Egyptian friends and their farm and head to the Pharaonic Workman’s Village, where those who built, painted and worked on the temples and tombs lived.
DAY 5: Luxor's East Bank Temples and Aswan
This morning your guide will reveal Karnak Temple to you, the second largest temple site in the world. From there, you’ll tour the majestic Luxor temple.
