Engage Jordan

Day 1:  Amman with Locals

Alongside local Jordanians, you will visit a local mosque and learn about Islam in the Middle East.  We then head to the Roman theater in downtown Amman. Finish your day amongst ruins of the temple to Hercules atop the Citadel.  You will be shoulder to shoulder with locals at all of these sites.

Day 2:  Umm Qais and Jerash with Locals

Reconnect with your new Jordanian friends and drive into the north of Jordan. You will find yourself amongst the ruins of Umm Qais, known in the New Testament as Gadara.  From this point you will have splendid views of the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights.  From there, we head to Jerash, one of the best preserved Roman cities in the Near East.

Day 3:  Abraham's Path and Homecooked Meals

We begin today by walking a stretch of "Abraham's Path", continuing our conversations with locals.  Share a delicious homecooked lunch with your Arab friends.  We then head to Madaba for our overnight on a local farm.

Day 4:  Biblical Sites and Village Immersion

See the oldest mosaic map of the Holy Land (560 AD); Mount Nebo, where Moses saw the Promised Land; and Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the site of Jesus' baptism.  You will then head to a village on the southern shore of the Dead Sea to learn traditional skills and stay in a local home.

Day 5:  Siq al Berid and a Bedouin Camp

Head farther south to your Bedouin camp.  Your afternoon will be free to explore the surrounding canyons or stroll in Siq al Berid (also known as Little Petra).  At night we will eat mansaf in a Bedouin home.

Day 6:  Exclusive Camel Trek to Petra

This morning, your camel awaits you.  Mount up and you and your group will ride to the base of a mountain on the back side of Petra.  After dismounting, a local Bedouin escort will take us the rest of the way.  Begin your exploration of Petra at the Monastery early enough to have the site to yourself.  Spend the rest of the day exploring this amazing city, named as one of the New Seven Wonders of the world.

Day 7:  Otherworldly Wadi Rum

Explore Wadi Rum, made famous by Lawrence of Arabia, by Jeep.  Sip tea by the campfire as you count shooting stars outside your Bedouin tent.

Day 8:  Dead Sea Relaxation

Head to a resort on the Dead Sea for some much needed rest and relaxation.

Day 9:  Fly Out

The above tour is an all inclusive land package.  The starting day represents your first full day in Amman. Tour prices include transportation, lodging, most meals and entrance fees. Prices are based on double occupancy.  Hotel single supplement is $350. Airport pickups and transfers within Jordan will be arranged at no charge for clients arriving and departing on the scheduled days.
